The L.I.F.E. Team

What is LIFE?

 

That’s normally a pretty big existential question but in this case it’s an acronym. LIFE stands for “Living In Family Emergencies” and we want you to be on our team. Life is hard, bad things happen quickly, and sometimes it can feel overwhelming. What a great time to be the hands and feet of Jesus and show love to our neighbors.

There’s a role for everyone on our LIFE team from school age to nearing Methuselah’s age. None of us can do it all but we can all do something. Check out the many opportunities to get involved on the LIFE team. Who knows, this may be how you become the answer to someone else’s prayers. Scroll through the list (left to right or right to left) and see the different areas you can get involved in.

  • Cooking Crew

    There are a plethora of circumstances when a home cooked meal can make a huge impact. If you can cook 1 side or 3 courses then maybe this is your part to play on the LIFE team.

  • Labor

    Storms come in all kinds. Sometimes the storms of life are a mountain of factors that leave our homes in disrepair. If you are comfortable picking up trash, branches, mowing, weedeating, or changing a lightbulb then we need you on our team.

  • Skilled Labor

    Things change. Maybe post-hospitalization someone needs a ramp or after a storm they need a window covered. Maybe it’s a maintenance item they need help with like changing the oil or the A/C filter. If you have the skills then join the team.

  • Grief Guide

    Losing someone is never easy. Sometimes you just need someone to help you through. Funeral arrangements, terminal diagnoses, or moving a loved one from home to specialized care all come with a multitude of challenges. If you are comfortable here, then we need you.

  • Driving

    Sometimes we can’t drive. Post surgery, elderly individuals, and our youth may need a ride. A ride to the doctor, the grocery store, or a ride to worship. Sometimes supplies simply need to be dropped off. If you have a license and are ready to go then you’ve found your first stop, our team.

  • Follow-Up & Outreach

    Humans forget so quickly sometimes. In moments of grief, loss, and natural disaster we are ready to jump in and help as soon as it happens. A lot of times though we show love when it first happens and then we move on in the next few days or weeks. If you are in it for the long haul and would like to continue to show love then this may be where you belong on the team.

  • Shelter with Me

    Food, Water, and Shelter are also basic but required needs. Maybe someone is passing through or burned out of their home, or between school semesters and needs a place to stay. Do you have a space for them at your house? If you are willing to open your house to someone you know or maybe even someone you don’t know yet then we need you on this LIFE team.

  • Loving the Elderly

    No nearby family, the loss of a spouse, the inability to visit friends, and a list of other reasons can lead to our elderly friends feeling alone and sometimes even unloved. If you love making new friends, listening to stories, and learning new skills then you’re a good fit for the team. We need you because they need you.

No one can do it all. There are people within and outside of the church that will need your help. What are you good at? What role can you fill?
